Lost in the poetry section of the bookstore, I bumped into Oscar, another obviously gay guy browsing Rilke; our shared love of verse and our shared fear of vulnerability blossomed into a tentative friendship, a small but significant step into the light for both of us in a world that often felt dim. Over time, the bookstore became our haven, poetry our shared language, and the gentle touch of hands reaching for the same volume transformed into something deeper, something undeniably romantic, a testament to the beautiful connections possible within the LGBT community. Together, we learned that love, like a well-written poem, is worth the risk, worth the courage to rewrite your own narrative.
